Second Floor (AR0328)

If you walk into this room on a mission to save Palern
Flynn, then this floor will have a decent sized unit of thieves on guard.
Check out the two locked chests (one trapped),
table in a dresser in a small room where Palern Flynn is hiding.
DISARM THE TRAP: 2750 exp;
PICK THE LOCK: 2 x 400 exp;
LOOT: Potion of Extra Healing (5), Potion of Agility, De'Tranion's Baalor Ale,
217 Gold, Random Small Treasure, Iol Gem, Lynx Eye Gem, Dagger, Studded Leather

Room near the stairs
Here you'll be attacked by some Shadow
Thieves. You'll find a secret door here that eventually leads to a
magical door.
Kill the Shadow Thieves.

Loot the room: sack, two tables and a barrel.

Orcs 1
It seems that orcs are guarding the exit to the Docks. By
the time you get to this area, orcs should not pose you a problem. Dispatch
them.
Kill the Orcs.

Torture Chamber
If you want to free Tizzak, Shadow Thief turncoat, you'll have to kill Booter
here in order to get the prison key.
Kill Booter.

Armor, Small Shield, Flail.

Prison
This is where you'll find Tizzak, a former Shadow Thief,
now in the service of Bodhi. As Bodhi mentioned, Tizzak will tell you how to get
inside Aran Linvail's Sanctum.
Aran's Sanctum is protected by two magical doors, one of them is opened by
pressing a
button, that can be found up north at the end of a heavily trapped hallway,
and the key to the second door can be found on a wizard named
Haz.
Orcs 2
Orcs are guarding this passageway. Dispatch
them. A little past their corpses there is a trap, so tread careful here.
Kill the Orcs.

are supported by an Air Elemental. Dispatch
them.

Door
This is the first magical door that Tizzak was telling you
about. You can open it by pressing a button.
So make your way over there.
Western Room
This room and the accessible corridor leading further into
the depths of the Shadow Thief Hold are guarded by a small detachment of
thieves. Kill them in order to move on.
Kill the thieves.

Guillotines
This nasty looking area is not that nasty actually. Just
be careful when walking around, as only a couple of characters can walk side by
side on these walkways. When you first approach this area you hear Dedral cry
out to disable the guillotines so that he can come through. Well, this is quite
fortunate for you but don't get too excited just yet.
There is a trap here that doesn't appear at all when you try
to detect it, I've noted it's location on the map above. There are a couple of
thieves on inaccessible balconies and they pepper you with arrows. Return the
favour, although I must say that you will not be able to loot their corpses.

Ambuscade
It seemed easy so far didn't it? Rightly so, it turns out
that you were lured here by Dedral to be slaughtered like sheep. The minute you
step into the center of this room, the ambushers will reveal themselves and
assault you from different sides. Beware of the two big traps on the floor, have
your thief disarm them. Concentrate your attacks on Dedral first - he hits hard
with his katana, summon some monsters to distract the archers. With careful
planning this battle can be easy, otherwise things can get out of hand really
fast.
Kill Dedral and his thieves.

Disarm the traps on the floor and loot the two boxes and a
barrel.
DISARM THE TRAP: 2 x 1750 exp;
LOOT: 9 Gold.
Button
After you have managed to deal with Dedral's ambuscade,
walk up the trapped north corridor to reach the button. When you click the
button, you'll hear a door open in the distance - this is the first magical door
leading to Aran's Sanctum.
For this you will also get some nice experience. After you have done that, it is
time to make your way back to the ambush place and take an eastern and then
northern corridor in order to reach the wizard named
Haz, he may have the key to the second
door of Aran Linvail's Sanctum.
Disarm the traps in the corridor and near the
spinning spiky cylinder.
DISARM THE TRAP: 3 x 1750 exp.
CLICK THE BUTTON: 17500 exp.
Haz
There are two more traps on the way to Haz's room. Kill
Haz and his associates in order to gain possession of the key to Shadow Master's
Sanctum.
Disarm the traps in two corridors.

Kill Haz and his personal guards.
HAZ: 8000 exp, Key to Aran's Lair, Quarterstaff;
PRIEST OF MASK: 2000 exp, Bloodstone Amulet;

Aran Linvail's Sanctum
This is the holy of holies of the Shadow Thief Guild, the
personal bedroom of its Shadow Master - Aran Linvail. Prepare yourself for a
tough fight once you open that door. The good thing is that you can cast all the
preparatory spells, use scrolls and potions just outside the sanctum and only
then you can open the door.
When you open the door, Aran Linvail will be really surprised
to find out that Bodhi had the guts to assault the Shadow Thief Guild. No
matter, just wipe everyone out here. The biggest challenge here is posed by Aran
Linvail himself plus a Shadow Thief Mage and a Priest of Mask. These spell
casters can turn your most skilful pre-battle preparations into a useless chore.
So in this battle apply anti-spellcaster techniques. Do not forget to cast True
Sight or Detect Invisibility because the Shadow Thieves will backstab you. Aran
Linvail will also gate in a Nabassu, so protecting your party members from evil
would not be a bad idea as Nabassu's gaze will make your (N)PC run around in
fear.
One technique that can be successfully applied is the
following: take your fighters and make them drink Potions of Protection from
Fire and Scrolls of Protection from Fire until their fire resistance hits 100 %.
Now open the door, walk your fighters in and, while they are distracting
everyone, start hurling Fireballs inside the room, you can also use Potions of
Explosions etc. This way your fighters will be unaffected by all the fireballs,
but the barrage of them will most definitely kill all the pesky thieves hiding
in the shadows and disrupt the spells being cast by the spellcasters in the
room. When your Fireballs dry up, start summoning monsters as additional
distractions. In the meantime your fighters can kill one spellcaster at a time.
After you have killed Aran Linvail and his guards you can
return to Bodhi to report of your success. But before you do that, check out the
contents of the room, there are some good items to be found.
